Fall Programs for Pre-schoolers at Billings Farm & Museum

WOODSTOCK, VERMONT...Billings Farm & Museum, gateway to Vermont's rural heritage, announces its fall series of interactive farm programs for children ages 3 and up. Programs for Pre-schoolers will be offered during the month of September on Wednesdays from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Each program will feature a different farm theme and includes a story, special visit to the farm, hands-on activity, and a snack. The cost is $3.00 per person for Billings Farm & Museum members and $5.00 per person for non-members. The program fee includes admission to the Farm & Museum.

Mrs. Wishy Washy's Farm. Sept. 1: 9:00-10:30 a.m. Mrs. Wishy-Washy likes a clean farm and clean animals, but what do the cow, pig, and duck think about that? We'll do some wishy-washing using a tub, washboard, and wringer (washing clothes, of course, not animals!) and share a snack with friends.

Reuben and the Quilt. Sept. 8: 9:00-10:30 a.m. When Ruben's best friend's grandfather gets sick, Reuben and his family make a quilt for his benefit auction. Visit our quilt exhibition to see the beautiful creations on display, create a quilt pattern of your own, followed by a delicious snack.

An Apple Pie for Dinner. Sept. 15: 9:00-10:30 a.m. Granny Smith wants an apple pie for dinner, but she only has plums. Follow along as she sets out to trade her plums for apples and see whom she meets along the way. We'll visit our apple orchard and enjoy some tasty apple treats.

By the Light of the Harvest Moon. Sept. 22: 9:00-10:30 a.m. The autumnal equinox – when the number of hours of daylight and darkness are equal – is cause for celebration . . . by the light of the harvest moon. We'll read about the joyous celebration at Apple Hill Farm after the leaves turn color and the harvest is in. We'll search for the perfect leaves to make a leaf wreath, and share a wonderful autumn snack with friends.
