Draft Horse Days Featured at Billings Farm & Museum
Billings Farm & Museum, gateway to Vermont's rural heritage, will celebrate the power of the mighty draft horse on the farm with a new two-day event, Draft Horse Days, on June 19 & 20, from 10:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. The weekend will feature demonstrations and activities using on Billings Farm's draft horses, including traditional fieldwork, horse shoeing, horse-drawn wagon rides, and more.
Draft horses teams will demonstrate plowing, planting, cultivating, and mowing in the farm fields during narrated programs at 11:00 a.m., 1:00, and 3:00 p.m. each day.
Each morning will begin with braiding the horse's mane and tails; additional activities will include: shoeing the farm's Percheron teams, making horseshoes, and rope making. Especially for children (or the young at heart): making clothespin horses, hobby horse races, and Pin-the-Tail-on-the-Horse.
Admission: adults: $12.00; 62 and over: $11.00; children 5-15: $6.00; 3-4: $3.00; under 3: free.
