Billings Farm & Museum Hosts Vermont Humanities Council Program: Abigail Adams: Madame President (1788-1803)

WOODSTOCK, VT … Billings Farm & Museum, gateway to Vermont's Rural Heritage, will host Abigail Adams: Madame President (1788-1803) on President's Day, Monday, February 20, at 3:00 p.m. in the Farm & Museum's theater. This Vermont Humanities Council program is free and open to the public, and accessible to people with disabilities.

The tumultuous events of the American Revolution swept Abigail Adams far beyond her humble roots in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Witness Abigail's journey – from loyal British subject to ardent revolutionary and from Weymouth to the White House – through Boston-area actress Linda Myer's portrayal of Mrs. Adams. Throughout her life, Abigail wrote reams of letters about everything from potatoes to politics, revealing her strengths, passions, heartaches, and trenchant opinions. Ms. Myer consulted many of them in her character research.

Actress Linda Myer has performed in feature films, Boston-area theaters, commercials, and has toured nationally. She has published articles, reviews, poems, and was director of History Making Productions, an education theater company.

Admission is free; please reserve in advance by email: reservations@billingsfarm.org or by telephone: 802-457-2355.
