Billings Farm & Museum Coordinating Hurricane Irene Lost & Found
Billings Farm & Museum is coordinating an effort to retrieve and return salvageable personal possessions washed downstream by Hurricane Irene, as well as items that will be considered for saving and storing to document the storm as an epic event in Woodstock history. The Woodstock History Center will partner in the effort.
Billings Farm's Corwin Sharp will head up the project: Our goal is two-fold: to match up personal items with their rightful owners and to collect and preserve evidence that may be historically important to our community in the decades and centuries to come. Although only the passage of time will provide a true perspective of the flooding, we believe it's critical to document not only what's been lost, but what's been saved like part of the White Cottage road sign, carried downstream and found in our farm fields.
IF you find an item that you believe may be worth saving, Billings Farm recommends storing it in a plastic bag and contacting Corwin Sharp or Darlyne Franzen at 802-457-2355, before dropping it off at the Farm & Museum. Additional information will be posted on BF&M's Facebook page.
