Volunteer Opportunities

Billings Farm & Museum invites adults who enjoy interacting with the visiting public to join the museum's volunteer program. No prior experience is necessary; a desire to educate students and adults, while developing new skills and learning more about Vermont's rural past, is essential. This is an opportunity to join a dedicated group of volunteers with diverse experiences.

Volunteers work in a variety of areas including education programs, behind the scenes, hands-on craft activities, the quilt show, and special events. Training and mentors will be provided.

“Billings Farm & Museum volunteers provide an invaluable link between the daily world of farm families of the past and families in the present. Ox muzzles and bog shoes, warming stones and button hooks, snow rollers and darning eggs . . . these things are mysteries for many people today. We encourage visitors to make the connection between the artifacts in our museum collection and the lives of those who made and used these objects. Through programs and activities, our volunteers help to make Vermont's past relevant to today and facilitate understanding the farm family's work and everyday concerns."

Opportunities are also available for junior volunteers ages 11-18.
